Faith-based leaders are often the first point of contact when individuals and families face mental health problems or traumatic events. When leaders know how to respond, they become significant assets to the overall behavioral health system. The Central East Mental Health Technology Transfer Center, in association with Access Services, invites this community to join Better Together: How Faith Communities, Mental Health Providers and Government Can Collaborate to Promote Wellness.
This eight-week virtual training will educate participants about various evidence-based recovery oriented techniques for enhancing collaboration amongst faith-based leaders, congregants, and behavioral health professionals. The overall goal is for them to improve their skills and knowledge in developing community-based partnerships that will connect with and support individuals living with mental illness.
All sessions are 60 minutes and will take place from 12:00-1:00pm ET on Wednesdays beginning April 27, 2022.

Dave Eckert, M.Div., CPRP, is the Director of Intersect, an initiative within Access Services that supports those at the intersection of faith and mental health through consultation, training, and the fostering of collaboration between faith communities and human services providers. In addition, Dave serves as one of the pastors of Grace Community Church in Chalfont, PA.
Derrell Frazier, the Policy & Community Engagement Manager of Mental Health Association of Maryland.
Mark Boorse has worked in non-profit human services for 40 years and served in church leadership for 25 years. As Director of Program Development for Access Services, Mark has spent the past several years focusing on community development: how to leverage up community resources from faith, civic, and service sectors to address community level issues such as mental health, suicide, homelessness, and housing.
Anita Mwalui, PhD, MPH, CWP, the Founder/CEO of Community Engagement & Consultation Group, Inc.
Jim Walters is the Administrator of the Office of Integrative Services for the Health and Human Service Department of Montgomery County, PA. Jim’s work focuses on promoting collaboration, sharing resources, and informing community partners about HHS services. He is also a chair of the Montgomery County Multi-Faith Coalition; an effort focused on implementing cross-sector collaboration.
