First-Ever Report Demonstrates the Devastating Cost of Mental Health Inequities

A new report published by the Satcher Health Leadership Institute at the Morehouse School of Medicine examines the economic and mortality burden of mental health inequities in America, specifically as it relates to indigenous populations and racial and ethnic minoritized groups. Economic Burden of Mental Health Inequities in the United States found that over a four-year period (2016-2020), at minimum, nearly 117,000 lives and approximately $278 billion could have been saved.
