Supporting Maryland’s Latino LGBTQ Community

Publication Date: Jun 17, 2022

Maryland Latinos Unidos (MLU) is hosting an MLU People’s Policy Series event on June 23 at 9:00 a.m. in celebration of Pride Month. Dr. Carlos Rodríguez-Díaz, Associate Professor at The Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University and president of The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, will speak about Pride Month from a Latino perspective with a special focus on Latino LGBTQ youth. Latino youths generally are experiencing mental health challenges post-Covid. For Latino LGBTQ youth these challenges are multiplied by very real day-to-day social and cultural challenges that many are facing as they develop into adulthood.

MLU is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing issues of special concern to Maryland’s Latino and immigrant communities, including housing, food insecurity, educational access, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
