MHTTC HealtheKnowledge Courses

The MHTTC Network has developed online courses currently available through Healtheknowledge.org. HealtheKnowledge.org offers high-quality, on-demand or instructor-led courses that are open to the public. Courses are free for a certificate of completion, and when available, continuing education is $5 per credit hour.

The goals of our free online courses are to:

  • Expedite the adoption and implementation of evidence-based practices for mental health prevention, treatment, and recovery services

  • Increase awareness, knowledge, and skills of the mental health workforce

  • Provide free, accessible training and technical assistance

Building Capacity of School Personnel to Promote Positive Mental Health in Children and Youth | Mountain Plains MHTTC

This 6-hour course builds capacity of frontline interdisciplinary personnel to address the mental health needs of children and youth in schools by embedding strategies through the day. Learn how to implement the Every Moment Counts model programs and strategies with an interdisciplinary team. 


Classroom WISE | MHTTC Network

Classroom WISE (Well-Being Information and Strategies for Educators) is a 5-hour course that presents concrete approaches to promoting student mental health and creating safe, supportive classrooms, describes student behaviors that may indicate a mental health concern, and provides strategies to support students with mental health concerns. The course includes a video series and resource collection also available on our website, www.classroomwise.org.


Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis E-Primer: A Self-paced Interactive Course for All Professionals | Northwest MHTTC

Relevant to all professionals in a variety of settings, this 3-hour course serves as primer in foundational concepts related to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and its application to psychotic symptoms and experiences. The course provides a practical and empathetic approach, introducing you to psychosis treatment and recovery; CBT fundamentals; and the application of CBT to psychosis. 


Cultivating Compassionate School Communities that Respond to Trauma Effectively | New England MHTTC

This 12-hour course offers recommendations to cultivate a compassionate school community that will buffer against the negative effects of trauma, build resilience for all students, and provide stress-relief and enhanced well-being for teachers and other school personnel as well as students. Empowering Wellness in Mental Health: Helping People With Their Lifestyle Changes- A Self-paced Interactive Course for All Professionals | Northwest MHTTC

Making lifestyle changes is hard for most people, but for those living with serious mental health conditions and taking antipsychotic medications, the risks of not living a healthy lifestyle are far greater. This 1-hour course reviews the specific risks to this group and explains proven approaches to lifestyle changes. Learn evidence-based skills and key components to help people identify and work towards their goals.


Illness Management and Recovery | Northeast & Caribbean MHTTC

This course is an introduction to the Illness Management and Recovery (IMR) program as an evidence-based practice which helps individuals develop tools to manage their mental health conditions, set meaningful goals and make progress towards their personal recovery.


COMING SOON: Strengthening Resilience: Promoting Positive Mental Health Among Indigenous Youth | Mountain Plains MHTTC

This course will be available in the future for educators and mental health professionals interested in developing skills to promote positive identity in Indigenous youth. Participants will be able to articulate an understanding of US history and its implications on Native Americans including its impact on Indigenous youth today, understand the relationship between positive self-identity and mental health, and demonstrate the ability to apply strategies to support positive identity of Indigenous youth. 


Suicide Prevention Across the Educational Continuum: A Five-Part Series | Mountain Plains MHTTC and Mountain Plains PTTC

This 5-hour series focuses on the unique challenges and considerations for mental health practitioners, educators, and parents face when they respond to mental health crises and the risk of suicide in a school setting. Learn recommended best practices for assessing children and adolescents for suicide and initiating appropriate responses to youth experiencing thoughts of suicide in a K-12 school setting. The Psychiatrist's Guide to Population Management of Diabetes: Increasing Psychiatric Provider Knowledge | Northwest MHTTC

Designed for psychiatric providers who treat those with serious mental illness, this 3-hour course aims to increase provider knowledge of and confidence in the identification and management of diabetes and other cardiovascular risk factors. Learn strategies to identify care gaps and stratify risks in a population with serious mental illness; address diabetes prevention through supporting health behavior change in specialty mental health settings; and describe treatment options, including goals of diabetes care. 


Violence Risk Assessment & Management: What Every Mental Health Professional Needs to Know | Northwest MHTTC

There is often confusion among providers about the boundaries of confidentiality, when and how to invoke their professional obligation to protect or warn third parties, and how to balance therapeutics and public safety. This 3-hour course provides the necessary tools for clinicians to assess, manage, and stabilize threats of violence by teaching the boundaries of confidentiality; duty to warn or protect potential victims; and proven methods to assess and manage the risk of violence.


Wellness Matters: Self-Care for Mental Health Providers | Northeast and Caribbean MHTTC

Mental health care professionals commit time and energy to the care of others every day, yet it can be difficult to find the time and energy to address their own self-care. This 3-hour course offers self-care strategies, practices, and wellness frameworks to increase resilience and flourish in one’s personal and professional life. At the conclusion of this course, participants will know about self-care strategies to survive and thrive, frameworks and strategies, and personal and professional resilience. CE available!
