The last week has brought two more mass shootings to communities in California. One occurred in a predominately Asian American and Pacific Islander community and has evoked a range of emotions and behaviors, including concerns about safety. As a community, we’ve experienced so much loss and pain over the last years. We recognize that this event, occurring on the Lunar New Year, both brings new grief and may activate other griefs in our community.

Join Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) mental health providers and community members to connect, share experiences, and build collective support from a community that has experienced significant trauma.

The Circles are a space to come as you are, listen, and share in a safe space with empathy and presence. In small groups, each participant will be given the opportunity to share their experiences with others through guided facilitation and weaving techniques to process their thoughts and feelings, including reactions to the recent gun violence tragedies. Participants can also offer ideas for self-care and community action.

AUDIENCE

The session is open to all individuals who identify as Asian American Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander and are based in our Region 9 area, including Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and the U.S. Pacific Islands.

Registration is limited. Please register only if you can attend, as this will impact the number of trained AAPI facilitators engaged to support small group discussions.
