Enhanced-Illness Management and Recovery Learning Collaborative Kick-Off Training

Closed Event: This training is available to participants who have been selected for the Enhanced-Illness Management and Recovery Learning Collaborative for Wisconsin CSP Providers.

Enhanced Illness Management and Recovery for Co-occurring Disorders (E-IMR) is an emerging, evidence informed practice combining two evidence-based practices: Illness Management and Recovery (IMR) and Integrated Treatment for Co-occurring Disorders (IDDT).

E-IMR places clients’ wants and needs at the center of care while enhancing their illness management skills. It uses best practices for integrating care for mental illness and substance use disorders (SUD) with individuals who have serious mental illnesses.

According to a recently released report, IMR, one of the central foundations for E-IMR, has proven effective at reducing psychiatric symptoms, hospitalizations, and suicidal ideation while increasing employment.

The two-day E-IMR training includes:

· Orientation to co-occurring disorders and SUD criteria
· Integrated screening and assessment
· RAC (Recognize, Avoid, Cope) approach to relapse prevention
· Integrated recovery-oriented goal setting and follow up
· Stage matched care
· The role of home practice
· Motivational and person-centered strategies for engaging clients in treatment
· Cognitive skills and strategies to enhance client illness management for MI and SUD
· Client Education re: Interplay of SUD and mental health
· Structuring a session to enhance outcome
· Using E-IMR in a group setting

E-IMR Learning Collaborative

The two-day training launches a 13-month Enhanced-Illness Management and Recovery Learning Collaborative for Wisconsin CSP providers.
