Mid-America MHTTC Technical Assistance

What is Technical Assistance?

The technical assistance (TA) provided by the Mid-America MHTTC is free assistance and consulting provided by our team of trainers. TA is for organizations ready to work directly with an MHTTC trainer or trainers to receive in-depth guidance to implement evidence based practices or make quality improvements in mental health programming within the organization. Due to staffing, timing, and funding, all TA requests are subject to MHTTC availability. Requests will be reviewed by our team of trainers. If we are unable to accommodate your request, efforts will be made to connect you to other supports. Technical assistance is offered in four content areas:

  1. Integrated primary care
  2. School mental health
  3. Serious mental illness

Integrated Primary Care

Establishing an Integrated Care Practice
Technical Assistance provides support for behavioral health providers, members of a primary care team, and/or organizational leadership on: strategies to introduce an organization or clinic to integrated behavioral health, building the case for integration through organizational and readiness assessments, options for business models, developing logistics and workflow in an integrated clinic, and strategies for measuring success in integration efforts.  

Quality Improvement of an Integrated Care Program 
Technical Assistance provides support for behavioral health providers, members of a primary care team, and/or organizational leadership on ways to enhance existing integration efforts between behavioral health and primary care teams. Technical Assistance will emphasize a team approach to evaluate the current and future vision of integrated behavioral health in primary care, evaluate current systems and processes for integration and strategies for implementing actions and measuring success. 

Workforce Expansion
Technical Assistance provides support for behavioral health providers, members of a primary care team and/or organizational leadership on: onboarding training and roles for team members working within a pediatric integrated primary care setting, workforce expansion, and training in managing common pediatric behavioral health concerns in building job descriptions and planning for behavioral health workforce growth.   


School Mental Health

Building a Comprehensive School Mental Health System
Technical assistance provides support for district, school, or state-level leadership teams, as well as school mental health professionals, develop and implement school mental health supports that align with existing multi-tiered systems of support.  

Educator Well-Being
Technical assistance for school mental health professionals and school building, district, state-level teams to: identify needs for professional well-being programming, establish and integrate well-being supports into their system, and engage in training and implementation planning of the Adult Resilience Curriculum for Educators. 

Educator Mental Health Literacy
Technical assistance for educators, school mental health professionals and school building, district, state-level teams to support the utilization and implementation of the national resource, Classroom Well-Being Information and Strategies for Educators (Classroom WISE). 


Serious Mental Illness

Fidelity Assessment, Permanent Supportive Housing
Permanent Supportive Housing is an evidence-based practice published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Technical assistance is provided to help organizations use reliable and valid methods to measure adherence with that practice.

Fidelity Assessment, Supported Employment
Supported Employment is an evidence-based practice published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Technical assistance is provided to help organizations use reliable and valid methods to measure adherence with that practice.

Fidelity Assessment, Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders 
Integrated Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders is an evidence-based practice published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Technical assistance is provided to help organizations use reliable and valid methods to measure adherence with that practice.


Telehealth
 

Telehealth
Technical Assistance provides support for behavioral health providers to utilize telehealth in  practice by offering telehealth training and implementation resources. Individual consultation is  available to make telehealth work for your specific practice needs.
