Integrated Behavioral Health in Primary Care

Integrated behavioral health and primary care is the Mid-America MHTTC's primary area of focus. Our trainers draw upon decades of combined experience working in integrated care settings, as well as firsthand knowledge of how many children, adults and families face limited access to behavioral health services, especially in rural and underserved inner-city areas. Our program disseminates training on the cutting edge of the broader national movement towards the integration of behavioral health into primary care medical practices, creating a “medical home” for patients in which their physical and behavioral health needs can be collaboratively addressed.

School Mental Health

The Mid-America MHTTC's school mental health program is led by trainers with deep experience working with students in school, district, and clinic settings. Training and technical assistance is typically delivered via webinar, learning community, workshop, consultation and conference presentation.

Serious Mental Illness

The Mid-America MHTTC's serious mental illness program is rooted in evidence-based practices (EBPs) distributed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Much of our serious mental illness training is intensive and developed for and with specific government agencies. Public-facing training opportunities include universal and targeted training in EBPs such as family peer support.

Behavioral Health Workforce Development

The Mid-America MHTTC workforce development program works closely with the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska (BHECN), and is spearheaded by BHECN Director Marley Doyle, MD. Our program works primarily with the MHTTC Network to develop training resources that are distributed nationally, but when our Center holds open training sessions, they will be posted here.
