In November and December 2019, the Mountain Plains Mental Health and Technology Transition Center (MHTTC) program, in collaboration with Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and local probation and parole offices, performed an online survey. The report was administered online to probation and parole officers in all six U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Region 8 states to identify specific mental health training needs. Results should help Mountain Plains MHTTC personnel better serve probation and parole offices across the region. In addition, survey results can inform new product development, training materials, and demands for technical assistance. Such work includes developing partnerships with probation and parole staff to meet the training needs identified. The report includes an aggregate summary, a description of training needs for rural and urban probation and parole officers, varying training needs for probation and parole, and state-specific findings.
