Request for Information on Rural Mental Health Research Priorities

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Office for Disparities Research and Workforce Diversity, as well as the Office of Rural Mental Health Research, promote research that can address mental health issues facing rural residents and communities. NIMH has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input on how to remedy research gaps and knowledge to address mental health disparities in these populations.

Individuals can participant in this RFI at any time before April 15, 2021. Topics addressed include:

  • Research needs for improving access to and use of effective treatment and prevention services in rural communities.
  • Research needs for addressing mental health within the context of other health problems as well as social determinants of health within the rural context.
  • Measurement, methodology, approach, and analytic strategies that would boost progress in rurally oriented research.
