The National American Indian and Alaska Native ATTC offered a hybrid Native Warrior Wellness training session in Flagstaff, AZ, in February, but weather conspired to keep most participants online.

The Native Warrior Wellness training program prepares behavioral health providers to better work with Native veterans and address their mental health concerns in a culturally relevant way. The 5 modules, designed for the 2-day workshop by Native veterans from across the country, provides Native-specific training on: Historical Overview of Natives in Warfare; Trauma, Historical Trauma, and PTSD; Approaches to Assessment and Treatment; Traditional Beliefs & Healing Practices; and Healing the Healer.

Participants included local veterans, providers, family members, and advocates from northeastern Arizona. All participants will get further technical assistance for an on-site workshop in their home communities or agency. Follow-up has begun with three communities to deliver the workshop this year.
