EPLC I The role of psychotherapy and new ways of prescribing medication to improve medication non-adherence

Despite having multiple new medications every year for the treatment of depression, schizophrenia, and mood disorders, the outcomes have not improved as expected. We have moved from a psychodynamic-oriented framework to a biological one, but are still not having the desired outcome. Medication non-adherence and treatment resistance remain big issues daily. It is well known that people with a trauma history have more tendency to be non-adherence to treatment. Taking into consideration the psychodynamic and psychosocial aspects at the time of prescribing can play a significant factor to improve the treatment outcome.
