Strengths Inventory and Needs Assessment

MHTTC-NE staff interviewed about 40 stakeholders across the New England region to identify existing strengths and resources to build on and areas of particular need to address in terms of the Center’s workforce development activities. Findings indicate that while there is already access to a considerable amount of technical assistance available in the region, a combination of factors—including budget cuts, workforce shortages, high staff turnover, and the lack of infrastructure needed to maintain programmatic fidelity—have posed substantive obstacles to implementing and sustaining evidence-based practices. As a result, the Center will need to explore training and technical assistance activities that do not duplicate existing offerings from other TA providers in the region, do not require significant travel or in-person staff time, and can be sustained in the absence of on-going fidelity monitoring.
