Free Webinar: Clarifying the Youth Peer Support Role

While the field of Youth Peer Support continues to grow and develop into an important and respected piece of youth mental health treatment planning, the role of the Youth Peer Support Specialist is one that is frequently poorly defined and subject to misconceptions. There is often a lack of clear expectations when it comes to what specifically Youth Peer Support Specialists do and do not do, which can lead to burnout and vicarious trauma in this young and emergent workforce. In this webinar, we will address the importance of clarifying the Youth Peer Support role in various contexts - during initial training, in working one-on-one with young people, as part of a treatment planning team, when serving on systems-related committees or councils, and when working with parents. We will also go over specific techniques that Youth Peer Support Specialists and their supervisors can use to support healthy boundaries.
