Presidential Strategy to Address National Mental Health Crisis

On March 1, 2022, United States President Joe Biden outlined an agenda to address the national mental health crisis. The plan seeks to strengthen system capacity, connect people to care, and create a continuum of support. This includes addressing the shortage of behavioral health providers, diversifying those who provide care, and incentivize practice in areas with the greatest need. The President's announcement also includes the Summer 2022 launch of the 988 crisis response line, caring for the well-being of frontline health workers, expanding certified community behavioral health clinics (CCBHCs), and researching new practice models.
