School Is In Session: A Series of Workshops on Trauma-Informed Approaches & Practices to Steer Into and Through This School Year

March 20 - April 24, 2024

We’re back! In August & September of 2023, we hosted a Back to School Trauma Informed Practice Series. Now that the school year is midway, join the Pacific Southwest MHTTC for Trauma-Informed Approaches & Practices to Steer Into and Through This School Year, a special six-part workshop series designed to offer deep dives into what it means to be trauma-informed in this moment, future directions for the work, and ways to deepen our praxis (theory into action) for our school communities.

Throughout March and April, 2024, our region offers six learning opportunities through diverse and dynamic workshops: 1) a text study (SAMHSA’s new practice guide for trauma-informed work!), 2) a workshop on designing and implementing trauma informed bullying interventions, 3) trauma-informed school counseling practices (for pre-service students and in-service providers), 4) an exploration of Narrative Exposure Therapy, 5) partnering with families and caregivers for student mental health and wellness, and 6) equity-centered coaching so that we as adults experience the support and care we hope to offer our students.

Series host and Region 9 School Mental Health Field Director Leora Wolf-Prusan welcomes school mental health champions (educators, administrators, school counselors, social workers, youth advocates, community mental health partners, and beyond!) to come together in purposeful and powerful learning over the course of the series that bring trauma-informed principles and approaches into practice.

All sessions are themed and aligned to one or more trauma-informed principles to bring the approach into action. All sessions except for Session 1 will be recorded and uploaded to our Region 9 School Mental Health webpage. Come for one, some or all: we’ll see you there.
