During this presentation, Kelsey Bonfils, PhD, will review what we know about social difficulties and sleep disturbances in people with severe mental illnesses and discuss a current study investigating how these two areas may be linked. Future directions for research and clinical practice will be discussed.
Kelsey A. Bonfils, PhD is an Assistant Professor and licensed psychologist in the Clinical Psychology PhD Program at the University of Southern Mississippi. She received her degree from Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis, and completed clinical internship at UCLA. In 2020 she completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC) of the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Bonfils currently serves as the Director of the Social Cognition & Recovery in Schizophrenia (SCORS) Lab at USM and has expertise in the research and treatment of social deficits in people with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders and other psychopathology.
