International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day

International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day is an event in which survivors of suicide loss come together to find connection, understanding, and hope through their shared experience. It was determined that Survivor Day would always fall on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, as the holidays are often a difficult time for suicide loss survivors.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released the Suicide Prevention Resource for Action — an updated, expanded, and renamed version of Preventing Suicide: A Technical Package of Policy, Programs, and Practices. The Suicide Prevention Resource includes three components that states and communities can use to inform their suicide prevention efforts: (1) strategies; (2) approaches; and (3) policies, programs, and practices.
