More Information:
This two-day event is designed to prepare qualified professionals to equip educators with knowledge and resources to integrate trauma informed best practices into their classrooms and school communities. Day one will cover the HEARTS framework and training and day two will provide opportunities for teach-backs and facilitation practice. This course provides foundational and intermediate-level training on: trauma, biology of trauma, complex trauma and attachment and the impact on cognition and learning, cultural humility and understanding racial stress as a form of trauma and fostering resiliency in students and adults. Content is tailored for application in the education setting. Two free consultation and coaching sessions will also be provided after the training to support the transformation of knowledge, discuss challenges and share successes.

Participants will:

• Establish a training for educators, school leaders, and district staff that builds on and strengthens foundational trauma-informed knowledge grounded in the HEARTS framework to increase capacity and sustainability for integrating trauma-informed best practices.
• Examine trauma and trauma-informed practices through a lens of equity and cultural humility focusing on systemic oppression, racial trauma, implicit bias, racial equity, and the importance of applying culturally responsive trauma-informed practices.
• Create a multi-phased action plan for adopting and integrating trauma-informed practices into their school/district that is sustainable.

The target audience is special and genderal education teachers, school health/mental health professionals, school administrators, paraprofessionals, and others who work in the education setting who have experience with trauma interventions and/or trauma informed settings.
