Technology Transfer Centers Collaborate on Telehealth Journal Publication

A collaboration by Mountain Plains Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC), Mid-America MHTTC, Mid-America Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC), and the MHTTC Network Coordinating Office was recently published in the Journal of Rural Mental Health. The article examines the rapid move to telehealth necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the immediate need for tele-mental health training, and how these Technology Transfer Centers worked together to provide real-time tele-mental health trainings and supplemental materials.

The centers began with a weekly learning series in March 2020, which covered topics including technology basics, billing, legislation, and working with children and adolescents. The centers have continued to provide additional trainings as requested. Mid-America MHTTC's Telehealth Learning and Consultation page, which contains recorded training sessions and other resources, has been viewed over 13,000 times.

The journal article, entitled "Rural mental health care during a global health pandemic: Addressing and supporting the rapid transition to tele-mental health," can be accessed on the American Psychological Association PsycNet. Paid access may be required.
