00:22:02 Anthony Zazzarino: Juggling all the different demands of life going on 00:22:41 David Kietrys: graduating students are concerned about their future.....impact of virus on being able to take boards, get a job, etc. 00:22:42 Ellen Anderson: Students are reacting very differently to COVID19. Some are calm, some are anxious about uncertainty 00:39:24 Anthony Zazzarino: Ken, you raise an important point that faculty may also feel stressed out and it is important for faculty to honor their feelings and practice self care. 00:43:58 Ann Murphy: If you’d prefer to comment by speaking just raise your hand and we can unmute them. 00:44:05 Ellen Anderson: It’s challenging, because you don’t want then to feel like you’re cutting anyone off. 00:46:24 Ann Murphy: I think one of the challenges is that because this is an ongoing situation people are feeling this over many weeks and you can’t make every class a process class. 00:51:29 Ellen Anderson: If a student is taking multiple classes at one time, should the student be directed to communicate this to all her faculty? 00:53:16 Ann Murphy: How do you weigh responding quickly to the student and taking time to make sure you’re in a good place? 00:53:30 Anthony Zazzarino: I think it is still important to specify structure and not open ended timeframes. I know this could be difficult, but I still feel like I have to evaluate students and their work. I think turning this situation into a normalizing situation that, in life, obstacles can get in the way. I think we need to balance flexibility with responsibility. I am all for students needing additional time and also letting them know that there are other options, if the student can not complete the tasks (i.e., incomplete, in progress, etc.) 00:55:55 Ann Murphy: Compassion and empathy 00:58:51 Anthony Zazzarino: My response was to example 2 not 3. I think this example requires a different level of response. 00:59:11 Ann Murphy: Thoughts about what Michelle could say to validate level of distress? 01:00:53 Anthony Zazzarino: Also, to recognize there really is no perfect response. 01:04:24 Anthony Zazzarino: I tell everyone... we need to give ourselves the same amount of grace that we give others. 01:06:31 Anthony Zazzarino: Thank you for these resources! 01:06:51 Ann Murphy: We will send you these slides so you have these references available. 01:11:31 Ann Murphy: Sounds like it’s a soft deadline.
