National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons
May 5, 2022, is National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Persons.
In the U.S., Native women face murder rates more than 10 times the national average. As of October 2021, the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System Database had 748 cases of missing Indigenous people, but experts estimate the true number could be in the thousands. The National American Indian/Alaska Native Childhood Trauma TSA, Category II, has created an informational flyer about missing and murdered Indigenous persons. Download the flyer to learn what you can do to honor, respect, remember, and share your voice for those whose voices have been forever silenced.
