What's the Difference Between Hispanic and Latino?

Definition of Hispanic

HISPANIC

  • Being a person of Latin American descent and especially of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin living in the U.S.
  • Of or relating to the people, speech, or culture of Spain. (Merriam Webster Dictionary, 2019)

Definition of Latino

LATINO

A person who was born or lives in South America, Central America, or Mexico or a person in the U.S. whose family is originally from South America, Central America, or Mexico. (Merriam Webster Dictionary, 2019)

 

As expressed on the following video these terms are used interchangeably but there are some differences.
