The United States Health and Human Services (HHS) department has released a new Overdose Prevention Strategy. The intention behind the new strategy is to increase access to care and services for individuals using substances that cause overdose, and for their families. "Our new strategy focuses on people -- putting the very individuals who have struggled with addiction in positions of power," explains HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra.
