Advanced Topics in Strengthening Youth/Young Adult Peer Support: Creating Self-care Plans

The Northwest MHTTC in partnership with Pathways Research and Training Center (RTC) is pleased to announce a series of monthly consultation calls focused on “Advanced Topics in Strengthening Youth/Young Adult Peer Support.” Each call will have its own topic, in an area such as skill building, supervision, coaching and training, organizational policies and procedures, hiring and onboarding, and more. This series is intended primarily for peer support specialists, their supervisors, and administrators charged with implementing youth/young adult peer support.

Pathways RTC Consult Calls

On December 17 we will discuss the importance of self-care for staff and youth clients. The holidays are often a confusing and challenging time for youth involved in systems, and young people can benefit from having a self-care plan. We will cover conversational strategies to approach this topic with youth and how to normalize the process of creating a self-care plan.

Here's what you can expect from each consultation call:

  • Focus on one topic such as skill building, supervision, coaching and training, organizational policies and procedures, hiring and on-boarding, and more
  • Sharing a practical resource related to the meeting's topic, such as  a strategy, tool, set of research findings, or template
  • Time for focused discussion in which attendees can ask questions and share knowledge and ideas relevant to the day’s topic, followed by an open discussion of any topic related to youth/young adult peer support
