Opioids crisis is impacting Hispanic and Latino communities around the United States.  The National Hispanic and Latino Mental Health Technology Transfer Center are committed to enhancing awareness, skills, and knowledge of mental health providers that serve Hispanic and Latino populations.  NHL-MHTTC will present “Foro: Respuestas al Consumo de Opioides” (Forum: Responses to Opioids Use) on June 13, 2019, at Hotel Verdanza in San Juan, PR. The purpose of the forum is to deliver to the mental health workforce the latest promising practices, evidence-based information, and resources. Participants will be able to acknowledge the strategies used to manage the use of opioids and to strengthen the key stakeholders' network in the behavioral field. 

Psychiatric risk factors associated with fatal overdose in substance users include depression and increased impulsivity. The National Hispanic and Latinos MHTTC in its role of workforce development aims to provide a space to discuss the current situation and efforts towards addressing the opioid crisis in Hispanic and Latinos communities, including Puerto Rico.
