Indigenous Peoples' Day

Published:
October 2, 2023

On this day, we commemorate Indigenous Peoples' Day and offer resources developed by our Network that address the culture, resilience, and the history of Indigenous people and their communities.

We are also in the process of archiving resources from the National American Indian and Alaska Native and National Hispanic and Latino MHTTCs, who transitioned out of the Network on September 29, 2023. These resources will remain available for the mental health workforce to learn about culturally-informed practices they can use with Indigenous populations.

SAMHSA has also recently awarded a grant to the University of Arizona to establish the American Indian and Alaska Native Behavioral Health Center of Excellence. This Center will develop and strengthen behavioral health agencies to better serve and advocate for American Indian and Alaska Native populations in order to improve health outcomes and reduce behavioral health disparities.
