The focus of the event is to provide tools to manage and approach trauma from the perspective of culture to mental health providers working with Hispanic and Latino Populations who may have experienced trauma. The purpose of this walk, a collaboration between the US. Army (Fort George G. Meade) and Navy (Cryptologic Warfare Group 6 Suicide Prevention Program), is to raise awareness for suicide prevention. COURSE DESCRIPTION: This webinar will discuss how to identify key links between opioids and suicide and how to prevent both by utilizing crisis management and suicide prevention models.   PRESENTER: Scott Lewis, PhD, has over twenty years of experience in mental health and substance use treatment. He has worked as a crisis clinician and outpatient co-occurring disorder therapist. His managerial experience has included supervising an outpatient dual diagnosis clinic, administrator for a long-term residential substance abuse rehabilitation center and is currently the Program Director for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Western Psychiatric Hospital’s inpatient, dual diagnosis and trauma units. Times: 4:00pm-7:00pm The Pacific Southwest Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) is proud to present a series of upcoming, NO-COST trainings in collaboration with the California School-Based Health Alliance for educators, clinicians, school-based health providers, and other professionals working with young people. Optional CEUs are available for a fee. Download training series flyer. This training integrates a range of trauma-informed perspectives and techniques and explores the "whole adult" counterpart to the "whole child" approach. Participants will be provided tools, dialogue, and resources for service providers and educators to hone their wellbeing within the context of authentic education leadership. A new lens will be explored for leading in high-trauma, under-resourced environments, along with navigating the challenging adult dynamics this context can create for on-site and district-level leaders. The training explores the impact of our natural stress responses, and how to navigate our stressors while creating healthy boundaries that support sustainability for self and others. This training is provided at no cost; however, space is limited.

The goal of the AWARE Summit is to provide professional learning for schools to support youth mental health, resiliency and effective violence prevention.

This webinar will examine suicide prevention in health care settings. It will compare progress that has been made in reducing cardiovascular disease (CVD) deaths with the lack of progress in reducing suicide deaths. Interventions that have reduced CVD deaths will be compared with interventions that are available to reduce suicide in terms of effectiveness and cost. The available tools for "suicide care" have comparable effectiveness and cost to effective CVD interventions. We should focus on improved use of these effective tools.

This two-day, 16-hour event is designed to prepare qualified professionals to conduct the 8-hour Trauma Responsive Practices in Education training developed by the Colorado Office of Behavioral Health in conjunction with other partners and offered through the Colorado Cross-Systems Training Institute. The first day of training will cover the Trauma Responsive Practices in Education training.  The second day of training will provide opportunities for teach-backs and facilitation practice.

Millard Public Schools (MPS) is participating in a four part professional development series designed for Behavior Coaches and Coaches of Coaches throughout their district. The series will include content on the roles and competencies of behavior coaches, data-based decision making, tiered problem-solving, and team collaboration. The goals of the series include helping all coaches to (1) Develop behavior coaching competencies; (2) Be able to identify, interpret, and use data across MTSS-B tiers of support; (3) Unify around a common behavioral problem-solving model; and (4) Develop the needed interpersonal and collaborative skills to guide the problem solving process.
