The Mountain Plains Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) is proud to partner with the National Association of State Head Injury Administrators (NASHIA) to present six virtual trainings focused on the significant intersection between brain injury, mental health, and addiction.
In this series, participants will learn to identify symptoms of traumatic brain injury, which often go undetected and can be mis-perceived as non-compliance with treatment. Examples of these symptoms include short-term memory loss or difficulty processing information quickly. Brain injury is complicated but accommodating for it is not.

The first session is open to anyone who would like to attend, it’s aim is to provide participants with a working knowledge of traumatic brain injury and its relationship to mental health. It is recommended that anyone interested in the subsequent intensive workshops attend the initial webinar.
Following this introductory session, there will be four intensive workshops directed towards specific populations. The series will conclude with a final general session, again open to anyone, focused on screening in primary health care. The intensive workshops are intended for individuals and providers who support the mental health, substance abuse, veterans, and school-age communities.
The four Intensive Workshops will be limited to 20 participants each. Each workshop will last for 90 minutes and consist of a presentation, an interactive exercise, and Q & A. This format is designed to facilitate experiential learning and problem solving. Each workshop will be led by a nationally recognized subject matter expert.
