Session 2, titled Thru the Lens of Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress, features Dr. Marcela Torres Pauletic, a clinical
psychologist and Senior Research Associate from the Institute of Behavioral Science, Prevention Science Program, Center for Resilience and Well-being at CU Boulder. Dr. Torres Pauletic will offer a trauma-informed lens to working with individuals with IDD, (review and introduce these topics), the intersection of trauma and IDD, and provide strategies for identifying signs of post-traumatic stress. The training will also feature a preview of some evidence-based intervention approaches, including trauma-responsive strategies that parents, caregivers, and non-clinical professionals can apply in their daily interactions with children, youth, and adults in their care.

Dr. Marcela Torres Pauletic is a clinical psychologist and Senior Research Associate from the Institute of Behavioral Science, Prevention Science Program, Center for Resilience and Well-being at CU Boulder. She has expertise in child social-emotional development, childhood trauma and resilience, and the protective role of relationships throughout the lifespan. Dr. Torres Pauletic regularly provides training and consultation to mental health professionals in evidence-based treatments for families experiencing trauma, and to educators, parents, and other child-and family-serving professionals in relationship-based strategies for building resilience.
