Primary Care is often referred to as the de facto mental health system in the United States because most patients who are treated for a mental health disorder are treated there and not in a psychiatric facility. Co-occurring disorders, which include the existence of a mental health disorder and a substance use or alcohol use disorder, are very common and will be seen quite often in a primary care setting. This training will discuss strategies for treating co-occurring disorders in primary care using an integrated behavioral health team approach.
Robin Landwehr
Robin is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) who holds a Master of Science degree in mental health counseling from Capella University, and a Doctor of Behavioral Health (DBH) degree from Arizona State University. She currently serves as the Integrated Care Director at a Federally Qualified Health Center, and has a small private practice. During her career, Robin has been fortunate enough to be involved in numerous writing projects and trainings, practiced as part of a collaborative care team, and provided clinical supervision. Her experience as a clinical counselor includes assisting individuals struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, health behaviors, substance abuse, and other issues. She is a certified instructor in the Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) and Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) suicide prevention programs.
