Jeannie Larberg, PhD, Sumner-Bonney Lake School District, and Kelcey Schmitz, Northwest MHTTC School Mental Health Director, will present: Interconnected Systems Framework: Counselor’s Role in Supporting School Mental Health within MTSS.
About The Session:
School Counselors possess specialized skills to support the integration of MTSS and school mental health system. The Interconnected Systems Framework (ISF) has been gaining interest from educators and mental health providers across the country to support children and youth behavioral and mental health (Barrett et al., 2013). The ISF approach is a single system delivery of evidence-based interventions to promote mental health and wellness for all students. This workshop will provide an overview of the key features of ISF that include a single system of delivery, mental health and wellness as a protective factor, measuring impact instead of just access, and using the MTSS framework to guide an integrated approach. School counselors are instrumental in supporting students with behavioral and mental health concerns and providing evidence based interventions across each tier.
