The Pacific Southwest Mental Health Technology Training Center, in partnership with the Pacific Behavioral Health Collaboration Council, is developing a Pacific Islander Mental Health Awareness Curriculum. The curriculum will offer a standard training experience that each of the Pacific Island jurisdictions can use and enhance with island specific information.
The purpose of the curriculum is to:
- Build awareness about Pacific Islander mental health, mental wellness, and mental health challenges
- Center indigenous ways of knowing, indigenous cultural practices, place-based sacred sites, and indigenous spirituality
- Increase shared understanding of culture and wellness, and the influence on health beliefs and help seeking
- Leverage the training as an opportunity to engage a potential workforce through workforce certification

- What are some of the traditional ways that people seek help?
- What are some self-care strategies that you know of?
