WVU Leaders Tell Lawmakers about Increasing Mental Health Concerns for Students

Students attending West Virginia University and other colleges throughout the state are experiencing increasing rates of depression, anxiety, non-suicidal self-injury and suicidal ideation. Recent data also found that the volume of students seeking counseling services, both scheduled and walk-in appointments, has risen dramatically compared to pre-pandemic levels.
