HIV Mental Health & Case Studies

Persons living with HIV/AIDS face a number of social, psychological and biological stresses on an ongoing basis. It is important for providers to have an understanding and sensitivity to those issues when providing care. This session is part of a one-day workshop that will examine the major bio-psychosocial effects of HIV infection, in addition to the importance of adherence to HIV therapy.

 

Learning Objectives:

  • Introduce participants to quality and compassionate care services for persons living with HIV (PLWHA)
  • Discuss impact of health equity on the overall wellness of PLWHA
  • Analyze the emotional, and bio psychosocial needs of PLWHA
  • Address behavioral health care and related adherence for the sexual health needs of the Aging PLWHA
  • Review screening of Long Term Survivors for Depression and Survivor Fatigue

New case managers and individuals involved in general HIV care giving.
