Learn About the Importance of Black Mental Health

The Central East MHTTC collaborated with the Black Psychiatrists of America (BPA) and the Central East ATTC in 2020 to create a virtual training series examining mental health and substance use disorders in the Black community. Launched in February 2021, the Health Equity Webinar Series highlights research and clinical practices that service providers can employ to eliminate racial, ethnic, and gender bias, and discriminatory practices.

Each interactive 60-minute session features subject matter experts who are also BPA members. Recordings and slides of past webinars focusing on Black mental health are accessible below.

The BPA’s mission is to address issues affecting the mental health of African people worldwide, with special emphasis on people of African descent in the Americas, and to provide a forum for continuing education for those who provide psychiatric care to these underserved population groups.
