A Poem by Robe Walker

Robe Walker lives in the Fort Belknap Indian Community in Montana. Walker has served in many roles, including teacher, counselor, emergency medical responder, and artist. Implementing creative ways to keep his community connected during the pandemic has been a top priority for Walker, even as he battled with COVID-19. Robe shared his poem as part of the Mountain Plains MHTTC's blog series on resilience during the global health pandemic.

The way is in knowing...

The way is in this way of knowing...

Sunshine...

coyote runs towards us at sunrise

Barefoot...

Touching earth...gazing at our daybreak

Mindfullness...

Our days are now full of this

wonderlust...

Questions...

Hearts searching our thoughts like seasons

Comfort...

Warm blanket wrapped around our

timelessness...

Presence...

You and I are never really far away

Breathing...

We catch a sense of our

awareness...

Caressing...

You and I will always feel this way of

Knowing...
