This in-person training teaches the general public how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. It gives participants the skills needed to provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.
• Recognize the signs of a mental health or substance use disorder crisis
• Identify community resources
• Link individuals in need of treatment and support to the proper resources
• Learn a 5-step action plan that can be used to help those in need
