Maryland's public education system will undergo extensive changes under a major law approved in 2021 called The Blueprint for Maryland's Future. All of the state’s 24 school systems are required to submit a strategy for implementing the Blueprint's five distinct "pillars," or priorities. One of the requirements of this landmark legislation is providing annual training for staff to recognize mental health and behavioral issues in students.
