March 31, 2023

In collaboration with federal, state, and local partners, SAMHSA’s Office of Recovery (OR) has developed a set of National Model Standards for Peer Support Certification, inclusive of Mental Health, Substance Use, and Family/Youth Peer Support, which closely align with the needs of the behavioral health workforce, and  the over-arching goal of the national mental health strategy. The OR, in partnership with federal, state, tribal, and local expert partners across the peer workforce, is currently overseeing several critical phases in the development of the standards.

SAMHSA invites the public to comment on SAMHSA’s National Model Standards for Peer Support Certification that will be accepted now through 5 pm EST on April 10, 2023.
