The Mid-America MHTTC launches a new series this week: Decolonizing Training and Supervision: Implementing a Culturally Responsive Model of Training.
The series begins July 14 with the session Understanding the Role of Colonization and Historical Trauma in Behavioral Health Training. In this webinar, participants can expect to learn more about the role of colonization and historical trauma in behavioral health training, as well as learn and define what it means to decolonize training and supervision. With the guidance of the session speakers, participants will examine the competing and conflicting worldviews of both supervisors and supervisees experienced during training and supervision.
Sessions in August and September are also planned.
This series is led by Dr. Anitra Warrior, Dr. Belinda Hinojos, and Dr. Patricia Cerda-Lizarraga. Continuing education credit is available for members of healthcare teams, psychologists, and mental health providers.
