What is the MHTTC Network?

The MHTTC Network includes a Network Coordinating Office (NCO), 10 regional centers, a American Indian/Alaska Native Center, and a Hispanic and Latino Center. Our collaborative network supports resource development and dissemination, training and technical assistance, and workforce development to the mental health field. The MHTTC Network works with organizations and treatment practitioners involved in the delivery of mental health services to strengthen their capacity to deliver effective evidence-based practices to individuals, including the full continuum of services spanning mental health promotion, prevention, treatment and recovery support.

Role of the Mid-America MHTTC

The Mid-America Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) serves the four states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska with a focus on integrated care, schools and mental health training programs.

The Mid-America MHTTC, funded at $5.2 million by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), was established in 2018 and is housed at the Munroe-Meyer Institute at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The Center primarily works to integrate behavioral health care into primary care programs, but also provides training and technical assistance in implementing comprehensive school mental health programming, community-based programming to address serious mental illness, and behavioral health workforce development.

Across the region, the Mid-America MHTTC serves to align mental health systems and professional competencies with evidence-based mental health practices by providing free or low-cost training and technical assistance on a variety of topics germane to effective mental health practice. Types of training and technical assistance may include needs assessments, webinars, workshops, program evaluation and others.

The Center’s overall goal is to assist mental health programs and providers to establish ongoing programs that are locally supported and sustainable over time.
