Resources for coping with mass violence

Since the start of 2024, the Mid-America MHTTC has seen two acts of mass violence within our region — first, the school shooting on Jan. 4 in Perry, Iowa, and then the mass shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, that occurred on Feb. 14 at a Super Bowl celebration parade.

We mourn for the victims in both of these events, and send our utmost compassion and hope for healing to their loved ones, as well as to those who were injured or paid witnessed to these tragedies.

Incidents of mass violence may cause feelings of distress, whether you were at the event or not. If you or a friend need help coping, know that help is available. You do not have to heal alone.

We have compiled a list of local and national resources for parents, educators, and neighbors as they move forward following these tragedies. Feel free to share them with your family, friends, and loved ones.

With sincerity,

The Mid-America MHTTC
