April is National Minority Health Month
- National Minority Health Month, celebrated each year in April, builds awareness about the health disparities faced by people from racial and ethnic minorities. In 2002 the U.S. Congress issued a resolution to establish the awareness month and promote educational efforts to reduce health disparities.
April is National Stress Awareness Month
- April is also recognized as National Stress Awareness Month, which seeks to bring attention to the negative impact of stress. Managing stress is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle; and knowing how to manage your stress can improve your overall health and well-being. Mental health professionals have both rewarding yet demanding jobs providing support for others. The cost of caring, or compassion fatigue, refers to the natural response of stress from caring for others in crisis.
National Public Health Week (April 1 - 7)
- Mental health is public health. When we all come together to support public health, all of us — individuals, families, communities and practitioners — can achieve the public health goals of protecting, connecting and thriving.
