Suicide Prevention

The Great Lakes MHTTC School-Based Mental Health Supplement is designed to support schools in creating environments that reduce the risk factors for suicide in HHS Region 5: IL, IN, MI, MN, OH, and WI.

Suicide has climbed to be the second leading cause for death among school-aged youth in the United States. Educators are key players in carrying out suicide prevention strategies for school-aged youth. As students spend on average over 1,000 hours at school each year, schools play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of our young people.

Resources

Often schools need additional tools and strategies to implement these practices. We will continue to update this resource list as we complete our Fall 2022 cohort. This repository will be built with the help and input from our learning community cohort.
