Webinar: Human Trafficking Overview and Practice Recommendations

This webinar will review human trafficking risk factors. Dr. Contreras will provide an overview of human trafficking in the United States and include issues related to international and domestic trafficking. Using examples from her work with victims and survivors of trafficking, she will explain how the risk of exploitation increases with contextual stressors, such as the current COVID health crisis. The presentation will close with a review of practice recommendations drawing from her experience of developing programs to attend survivors of human trafficking.

Learning objectives:

1. Identify at least two differences and one overlap between domestic and international human trafficking.

2. Learn about individual vulnerabilities to human trafficking.

3. Describe traffickers’ methods of coercion that are challenging for the providers and the public to identify.
